exorcist video

I thought I might share in the creative process with my oxidized minions. It is taking forever for me to finish the video. There is way too many clips to organize and match up with the song. But, I think I have made a good start. I have it matched up to about 3 minutes into the video. The rest is garbage.

The song is C'mon and Love Me by Kiss. The first time I heard it, it reminded me of the scene in the Exorcist where she is doing unspeakable things with a crucifix. Shocking and Crazy and Wickedly Delicious. I just had to hear the two together.

My first experiment was mixing the audio clip from the movie with the Kiss song using a cassette recorder. Results were horrendous, but amusing. Then, with the miracle of the microprocessor and the personal computer, I was able to mix the two digitally. It sounded better, but I put the project on the shelf. I decided to dust it off and mix the video with the audio.

Here is the first initial mix. Let me know what you think and what I could improve.

Caution: language and disturbing images.

Thanks- Oxidizedmetal.

Rust Removal

Just in case you have some oxidizedmetal and you want to get rid of it just watch this video.

Rust Removal Tip - video powered by Metacafe

Once rust is gone, you can use the remaining hydrogen to run your fancy Hydrogen fueled car.
But, just in case you wondered about the efficiency of creating hydrogen while removing that rust from your car parts: Water electrolysis does not convert 100% of the electrical energy into the chemical energy of hydrogen. The process requires more extreme potentials than what would be expected based on the cell's total reversible reduction potentials. This excess potential accounts for various forms of overpotential by which the extra energy is eventually lost as heat. For a well designed cell the largest overpotential is the reaction overpotential for the four electron oxidation of water to oxygen at the anode. An effective electrocatalyst to facilitate this reaction has not been developed. Platinum alloys are the default state of the art for this oxidation. The reverse reaction, the reduction of oxygen to water, is responsible for the greatest loss of efficiency in fuel cells. Developing a cheap effective electrocatalyst for this reaction would be a great advance.
Note:See wikipedia.
So, uh, I guess you should stick to just rust removal.

This is kind of a neat website. Unfortunately, you have to sign up to get a copy of your picture.
I am not looking for a Zombie Mate. I am very happy with the one I have, but I wanted to see what I looked like as a dead guy, so I signed up. Try it out.

Oxidized metal

Just realized that I haven't kept my dear readers up on the current technology involved with oxidized metal. So, without further ado:

To drive the point home, I point out the following connections: Most people who are named Russell such as myself are usually named so because of their reddish hair (of which I do not have.) A common name for people with red hair is coppertop.

Oxidized copper.
Oxidized metal.
Rust

Cinematic Masterpiece

Caution: Language

If you have never watched Serial Mom, you are missing out. It is a moving portrait of a mother who protects her loving family the only way she knows how. By murder!

I put a lot of images up here at deviant art.  You can actually buy prints here if you wanted.  I should have some more decent copies of some more paintings soon so you could buy larger prints.

Yes I am whoring myself.

But, just don't check myself out.  Check out some of the other stuff too.  A lot of it is really good.  Some of it is really not.  I like the amateur stuff though.  You can learn important things from people who aren't conscious of the critical eye.  The joy of creating is more important than the end result.

I wish I could understand this drive to create and what it means.  I am not a religious person, but creation is something I truly believe in.

Lost is getting good again.

So in case you didn't know I am a huge lost fan. Haven't seen anything so thought provoking or intricate since Twin Peaks.
If you have not seen it, get the DVD's.  Don't bother watching it now cause you would be,  well, Lost.  Which is probably the most fitting title for a television show ever.

Here's a video that I made mixing the Dharma Initiative movie with Skeeter Davis's  The End of the World.  Enjoy.  It's a big file, so give it a moment.

This is all you really need to watch to understand Lost:

Happy St. Paddy's Day

In Celebration of St. Patrick's Day, I thought I would share a song I hear a lot at work. The title is "The Night the Pub Burnt Down" by the Clare Voyants. http://www.myspace.com/theclarevoyants

This might be a bit stereotypical, but the song is about drinking. Go figure. But the guy who plays it all the time on our crappy shop stereo (my boss) calls himself the Angry Irishman. For the most part, the name fits. But, it is an authentic Irish band. Or at least it is as authentic as the band can be when it is (or was) based in Phoenix, Arizona. But, I like the song. It makes me want to drink heavily. And what else is St. Patrick's Day for? Should we behave ourselves like it was Cinco De Mayo?

Comic Book Cover

So I had to do a lot of research for this project. It is for these guys at work who wanted to start a blog called, "Girl Scouts and Cocaine." They just wanted a cartoon, but I had the idea of making them comic book heroes.

So, the story behind them is:

The guy with the claw cut his hand badly playing beer pong with real glass beer glasses. He had to wear a brace for a long time and it looked like he had a claw, so I gave him one. Oh, and he was bragging about going to the gym a lot, so I gave him more muscles than he actually has.

The guy with the sword had a dream of making a movie with him as the lead character riding a motorcycle while mowing down zombies with a sword that he set on fire. Would actually be an exciting movie, I think.

The guy with wings, well... He was harder to flesh out than the others. But he is a bit stoic, so I gave him wings. Made sense at the time. The horns and hooves were suggestions by the other two guys. He works in the Video Department, so I put a V on his shirt. Oh, and he has reddish hair and a reddish beard...

Across the Universe

So I recently saw the movie "Across the Universe." You know, the one where the Beatles were turned into Rodgers and Hammerstein. But I must say, I enjoyed it a lot and Bono's performance was pretty good. Unfortunately, it could have been better. But, I will say that it changed the way I listened to the Beatles for the better. The context of the music to the times that surrounded it, makes much more sense to me now. So, for your viewing pleasure: A clip!

This song gave me chills and shocked me and made tears well up in my eyes. Not sure why. Guess it has something to do with the sudden realization of who she is singing the song to and how we suddenly know why the unrequited love will never be reciprocated. I don't know. Gave me chills though. Hair standing on the back of my head sorta thing. Too bad the rest of the movie isn't as effective. The strawberries did make me want to paint, though...

Cover Memes, Cover Memes, Cover Memes

Through the miracle of the internet I was able to stumble upon this website: http://covermeme.com/

It is a lot of fun and kind of addicting and completely pointless.

Make your band’s album cover meme:
1. Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:RandomThe first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2. Go to Quotations Page and select “random quotations”or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3. Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7daysThird picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4. Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together. Remember this is Album/CD art, so keep it square. Images need to be 500 pixels x500 pixels or larger.

5. Email image, band name, album title to post - at - covermeme.com. Optionally include attribution and links for the image and for yourself to be used in the public posting one this site. We will not use your name or address from your email. Only information you specifically share in the body of the email.
